Knowledge Management
Perhaps surprisingly, one major hurdle is that companies don't really know
what IP assets they have. Of course, they have management processes to
know what IP they pay to maintain. However, they often don't have internal
management processes to identify what IP may be of value to somebody
else.
When Dow took a more active stance on managing their IP assets in the mid
1990s, they brought in appropriate knowledge management and decision-
support tools to analyse their patent database (and that of their
competitors) to identify valuable IP.
How can we help:
a) Provide process to establish prioritisation criteria for IP portfolio reviews
b) Act as an independent party to identify potential agencies to identify and
chase potential out-licensing opportunities
